Porsche Story

Haven’t had a Porsche story in a while, so this was a nice treat to have someone share a bit. This story is from Bob. Enjoy…

As with most young boys, when I was growing up, I had a favorite car … one that would turn my head every time. Mine was the Porsche 911 Turbo. And even though, now as an adult, I’m less of a “car guy”, a nice 911 still turns my head (and my 13 year-old daughter’s too…glad she has good taste…).

Anyway, it wasn’t until 4 years ago that I actually got to drive one. I helped put on a music festival up in Wenatchee, WA, and our chairman owned a black 911. A few of us on our team joked around with Clyde that we’d really like to drive it…to no avail.

Then one day as I was over at his house with him and his wife, he asked me if I wanted to take it for a spin! I didn’t have to think about that for long…in no time, he and I were heading down the road, with me searching for a nice open road that I could open it up on. The only problem was that I wasn’t sure if he’d be OK with me attempting a new land speed record…so I took it fairly easy (as hard as it was).

The one thing I remember though … more than any other car I’ve ever driven, as soon as I gave it a little gas, I just KNEW this car wanted to take off. You could just feel the power in that engine…it was just screaming to fly!

interesting that the girl took to it so much… unless she is/was INTO cars otherwise.

i just hope they dont come out with the pink “mary kay” version, lol

  2. My husband never had a porsche, but he got that same feeling with his mitsubushi 3000- he could feel that the car wanted to go really fast! He was like a little kid!

  7. Great story Bob – thanks for sharing. Sounds like an awesome experience and it’s nice that you were finally able to get behind the wheel of one after admiring them for so many years. Sounds like Clyde is pretty trusting. 🙂

  8. Cool! Good to see someone get a crack at a dream, If even for a short time, Makes a lasting memory worth it all!
