Buy the Death Race 3000 Porsche

I don’t know how legitimate this is. I have a hard time thinking this would appear on a Craigslist posting. eBay I could understand since these types of cars pop up on there quite a bit. Needless to say, it would be pretty cool to have something like this. Only $28,000 too, which again, seems a little cheap for a movie car.

Here’s info from the Craigslist.com ad:

THIS IS THE ACTUAL PORSCHE 911 DRIVEN BY CHARACTER 14K IN THE MOVIE DEATH RACE. THE STUDIOS SPENT BETWEEN $250K – $300K ON EACH CAR BUILT FOR THE MOVIE TO ACCOMPLISH THE “PRISONER BUILT LOOK” THEY WERE LOOKING FOR. IT FEATURES FRONT MOUNTED PROP 50 CALIBER GUNS AND A ROCKET LAUNCHER AND WELL AS A REAR MOUNTED MISSILE LAUNCHER. THE BODY WAS WIDENED TO FIT THE EXTRA WIDE REAR WHEELS, FAUX ARMOR WAS APPLIED. THIS WAS ONE OF THE HERO / CLOSE UP CARS, NOT A STUNT CAR. IT WAS NOT DAMAGED DURING THE FILMING AND IT FEATURES ALL OF THE MOVIE SEEN COSMETICS INCLUDING THE WILD INTERIOR WITH GAUGES, SWITCHES AND WIRES ALL OVER THE PLACE.

WHEN IT COMES TO MOVIE CARS, THE LEAST ORDINARY THEY ARE, THE MORE VALUABLE THEY BECOME BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE EASILY RECOGNIZED. PLUS, EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT RECOGNIZED, THEY ARE A SIGHT TO SEE THAT DRAWS MAJOR ATTENTION.

ONLY 4 PORSCHES WERE MODIFIED FOR MOVIE USE, THIS INCLUDES THE STUNT CARS THAT WERE HEAVILY DAMAGED. ONLY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE CLAIM TO OWNING ONE OF THESE UNIQUE ATTENTION GETTING SHOW CARS. A 1 OF 25 BUILT 1970 CHEVELLE, AS RARE AS IT MAYBE, IS STILL A 1970 CHEVELLE TO ON-LOOKERS. A CAR LIKE THIS WILL STEAL THE ATTENTION AT ANY SHOW. MORE THAN A SHOW CAR, IT IS AN ATTRACTION. FULLY DOCUMENTED.

Comments

  1. just checking to see if it’s still there.any bidders?

  2. I wish I could bid on the car, but my wife won’t let me.

  3. $250 -300k per each vehicle spent by the studio…
What did they really start with?
There ust be a lot of good spare parts they took off each vehicle sitting in the Studio Prop bins….

  4. studio’s great for losing money.can’t understand how they can keep making movies.

  5. I agree, spending $300k on the vehicle is way too much. But it’s not as bad on the amounts they pay the actors.

  6. I haven’t seen Death Race 3000, but will this film become a cult-classic like Mad Max?

  7. Missile, guns & speed …. oh my
Missile, guns & speed …. oh my

  8. The firepower and Porsche name makes this car a babe mobile.

  9. Does anyone know if it’s been sold yet?

  10. probably do better with the ladies with an old 911.

  11. Maria,

I agree with your assessment, but there are some women who like the rough & tuff men who drive radical cars. As for myself, I prefer an older 911, with a fine lady in the passenger seat.

  12. It is just nice to bring back memories of the Death Race movie and there were alot better looking cars.

  13. still haven’t seen movie but glad to see a porsche made the cast.

  14. I finally saw the movie. It was fair, but I liked the Mad Max series better.

  15. will see movie this week and let you know what i think.hard to beat mad max for car stunts.

  16. Not only the car stunnts, but the different styles of cars.

  17. watching it now!not bad for what it is.

  18. Kristina Brown says

That would be a fun car to tour through the local car shows with. Sure thing to attract a crowd.

  19. This is the perfect Porsche for the rush hour commute. If someone cuts you off you push the ROCKET LAUNCHER button!

  20. Kristina, I agree, but for a single guy …… would this vehicle, as is, be a babe magnet?

  21. Richard, or you can use the rockets to clear the way for those drivers that drive the speed limit in the fast lane.

  22. Galen Wood says

Would look awesome on the road, if legal.

  23. I’m sure there would be some minor modifications to make this car street legal.

  24. lar, did you ever watch the movie? What were your thoughts?

  25. Laura Adams says

I should get this for my 17 year old daughter that has not stopped begging for a “cool” car to drive to school.

  26. Laura,

If you do, please post a picture of her reaction on utube.

  27. I watched this movie last weekend and thought it was cool to see this car in the movie. It was one of those far-fetched movies, but it did have lots of action which kept my interest..

  28. die-cast mods freak says

i’m makeing like this car in scale 1:24 but my is bugatti eb 110 xD
