Once You Go Black, You Never Go Back

I laid awake in bed last night thinking about this car. Guess the saying actually is true that once you go black, you never go back. I’m not sure why I’m in love with the blacked out editions Porsche has been producing, but they have moved to the top of my favorite colors list. For a long time it was Guards Red, but not any more!

The Porsche Cayman S Black Edition joins the Porsche 911 and Porsche Boxster S Black Editions and will be arriving later this summer as a 2012 model year car. Only available in solid black with a monochrome treatment, this car does the sexy color proud. I absolutely LOVE the look with the black wheels and trim pieces in the body color. Reminds me a lot of the Porsche Cayman S Design Edition my buddy bought last year (Porsche Cayman Road Trip!!!).

A few of the feature highlights for the Porsche Cayman S Black Edition:

  • 10 hp boost over the Cayman S for a total of 330 hp
  • 0 to 60 mph in as little as 4.6 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package
  • Top track speed of 172 mph
  • Black-painted 19-inch Boxster Spyder design wheels – the lightest 19-inch wheels in the Porsche lineup
  • The wheels are fitted with 235/35 ZR 19 tires up front and 265/35 ZR 19 in the rear
  • Trim pieces that are typically painted in contrasting colors are also painted for a uniform look: the side air intake grilles are painted black, as are the twin exhaust tailpipes and the model designation on the rear deck lid

The price for the Black Edition offers a surprising value given the upgrades included at no charge along with the additional power output and visual appeal of the car. MSRP is set at $67,500.

Definitely a killer looking car.
