Weekly Porsche Wrap

Here’s a few interesting things I ran across this last week in Porsche related news:

Man intentionally crashed into lawyer’s Porsche – Looks like car jacking isn’t the only thing you have to worry about while cruising around in your Porsche. A man in Dallas slammed into a 2009 Porsche Carrera driven by a local lawyer because he was too rich. [Via DallasNews.com]

Tuner Switzer Performance wrings 1,000 hp out of a Porsche 911 – Some will ask “Why?”. Others will ask “Why not?”. Whichever side you’re on, this baby is fast. 0 to 60 in the mid 2 second range. 60 to 130 in less than 5 seconds more. Top speed? Do you want to be the one to find out?! [Via Edmunds.com]

Porsche Hikes Prices on 2009 Boxster and Cayman – Porsche is increasing the base price on the 2009 Boxster by $890 to $47,550. The 2009 Cayman is moving $1,015 up the price scale to a base price of $51,275. There are a few other power train and miscellaneous changes as well. [Via Edmunds.com]

Porsche 356 Speedster Plug-In Version – Among the plug-in cars on display was a 356 Speedster. Pretty cool pics and a little information. [Via Earth2Tech.com]

Pirelli and Porsche win the 24 Hours of Dubai – Pirelli had a nice start to its 2009 motorsport season with a win at Dubai Autodrome. The team drove the Land Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 Cup to a victory nearly a full minute ahead of the second place finisher. [Via Modern Tire Dealer]
